Agnese Vardanega

I am a sociologist with a PhD in Social Research Methodology, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Teramo.

In this space, I primarily write about methods and techniques of social research, digital social research , and data politics (mostly in Italian). Studying digital society also means considering the discursive dimension of code: the algorithmic logic and digital architectures that structure our online experience.

Sociospunti had been online as blog from 2009 to 20201. Tired of that format, I re-envisioned it as a digital garden : a personal space for reflection, independent and far from the logic of exposure, tracking, and even “public outreach.” I write to think and study; I share for those who wish to stop by2.

I believe that knowledge should be accessible and research should be open. This conviction led to the creation of the wiki on the R language in 2011. Nearly fifteen years later, it receives thousands of visits per month from students, teachers, and data professionals.

This site does not collect data and respects visitors’ privacy , as it aims to be a place of hospitality and encounter.
